Maud S. Mandel



Maud S. Mandel (Ph.D., University of Michigan, 1998; A.M., University of Michigan, 1993; B.A. Oberlin College, 1989) is Dean of the College and Professor of History and Judaic Studies at Brown University. She is author of In the Aftermath of Genocide: Armenians and Jews in Twentieth Century France (Duke University Press, 2003) and Muslims and Jews in France: History of a Conflict (Princeton University Press, 2014) and co-editor with Ethan Katz and Lisa Leff of Colonialism and the Jews (Indiana University Press, 2017). She has been awarded fellowships from the American Council of Learned Societies and the American Philosophical Society. Her most recent article, "Simone Weil: A Jewish Thinker?” was published in the volume Thinking Jewish Modernity by Princeton University Press in 2016.
