A University Professor, Emmanuelle Loyer teaches contemporary history at Sciences-Po Paris. She is specialized in the field of cultural history of contemporary societies. Her work has focused on artistic practices and art policies (Le Théâtre citoyen de Jean Vilar, une utopie d’après-guerre, PUF, 1997; Le Festival d’Avignon, Gallimard, 2007 in collaboration with Antoine de Baecque), on exile and transnational intellectual phenomena (Paris à New York. Intellectuels et artistes en exil, 1940-1947, Grasset, 2005).
More recently, she has been interested in the relationship between literature and social sciences and has just published a biographical survey on Claude Lévi-Strauss.
