Jane Burbank

Jane Burbank is professor of history and Russian and Slavic studies at New York University. Her books include Intelligentsia and Revolution: Russian Views of Bolshevism, 1917-1922 (New York: Oxford University Press, 1986), Russian Peasants Go to Court: Legal Culture in the Countryside, 1905-1917 (Bloomington: Indiana University Press, 2004), and, co-authored with Frederick Cooper, Empires in World History: Power and the Politics of Difference (Princeton: Princeton University Press, 2010), available in French as Empires de la Chine ancienne à nos jours (Paris: Payot-Rivages, 2011).
