A former student at the Ecole Normale Supérieure (Lyon), Anthony Bonnemaison holds an agrégation and a PhD in philosophy. His doctoral thesis was entitled « Philosopher et ses dangers. Enquête sur la difficile démarcation du philosophe et de ses avatars sophistiques dans les dialogues de Platon » (Philosophy and its dangers : An investigation into the difficult demarcation between the philosopher and his sophistic avatars in Plato’s dialogues, ENS-PSL). His research focuses on ancient philosophy (in particular, Plato, Aristotle, and sophistry) and on modern and contemporary readings of ancient thinkers.
