Emmanuelle Bénicourt is a lecturer in economics at the University of Valenciennes and a member of the IDP Laboratory (LIEN team). Her thesis in socio-economics of development on “UNDP and World Bank analyses of poverty and development: the place of Amartya Sen” (EHESS, 2005) led her to reflect on ethics and moral philosophy based on Sen’s critique of utilitarian and Rawlsian doctrines. She is currently pursuing her reflections on the social and political role of economic theories - and it is in this perspective that she has contributed to the new edition of the book
La théorie économique néoclassique (with Bernard Guerrien, La découverte, 2008).
