Nicolas Barreyre is a senior lecturer at the EHESS, specialising in the history of the United States. His research focuses on political economy, the spatialisation of politics and the construction of the American state in the nineteenth century. In French, he has published L’or et la liberté. Une histoire spatiale des États-Unis après la guerre de Sécession (Éd. EHESS, 2014) and (with Paul Schor) De l’émancipation à la ségrégation. Le Sud des États-Unis après la guerre de Sécession, 1865-1896 (Puf, 2009). He recently co-edited a global history of public debt with Nicolas Delalande: A World of Public Debt: A Political History (Palgrave, 2020).
